This week's program will focus on what is thought to be the first documented completion of the Pacific Crest Trail in winter.  The trail is approximately 2,650 long and spans from Southern California, traveling through California, Oregon and Washington to the Canadian border.

Justin Lichter and Shawn Forry completed the winter trek on March 1, 2015.  Both had already earned the "Triple Crown" of American hiking by completing the Pacific Crest, Appalachian and Continental Divide trails

Benjamin Spillman, who produces Sierra Outdoors content for the Reno Gazette-Journal, wrote about their journey in an article on the same day: The joyous, muddy end of an epic Pacific Crest journey.  Before moving to Reno in 2014, Mr. Spillman worked in Las Vegas and Palm Springs, Calif., covering myriad topics from Nevada politics to the environment to Las Vegas tourism.  He was born and raised in the Midwest but moved to California in 2000 and hasn’t looked back.
