Breast Cancer Awareness

Jamie Vaughn is a recent breast cancer survivor, who is a fierce advocate for other breast cancer patients and survivors.  She is the host of the "Test Those Breasts!"™ podcast where she holds important conversations with current patients, survivors, caregivers, therapists and medical provider champions, to provide much-needed education and support.  "Test Those Breasts, Inc."™ is a nonprofit that includes resources and education about the signs of breast cancer.  Jamie will share with us the importance of self exams, early detection, and self-advocacy using the "Know Your Lemons" curriculum.   October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Be Vigilant!

Carson Costa has always had a healthy fascination for the world and all its intricacies, and travel has been a central pillar in his life.  He graduated from UNR in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and along the way was lucky enough to do a couple of foreign exchange programs, including Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) - a year-long immersive program.  Carson is co-president of ROTEX, a society of past Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) alumni who engage with current Inbounds and Outbounds to better their exchange experiences.  Carson will share with us his experiences, and how he sees ROTEX as potential future Rotarians - the next generation - who have first hand Rotary experience.

Scouting America Today

Paul has had Scouting in his blood ever since his mom brought him to a Cub Scout meeting in West Palm Beach Florida where he grew up.
After college Paul realized he had decisions to make; either graduate school or some employment.
Through the advice of his employer at the time, Paul chose to join the Gulf Stream Council, Scouting America, in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
Paul says "Scouting has impacted my life in many ways for the challenges that life brings.  I consider my role in Scouting as a calling for servant leadership.  As an Eagle Scout I have constantly used my skills, talents and abilities gained to help serve young people in my community."  Scouting is the difference!
Nevada Area council has 2032 youth participants and 696 adult volunteers.  Paul has served Scouting for over 34 years in 5 different councils, and is the 18th Scout Executive and CEO of the Nevada Area Council.

Susan is the "S" of D&S Tow.  She's a Hug High graduate, proud N. Nevadan since the 3rd grade, mother of 5 and Dodger fan!  With over 35 years in the automotive industry; running an auto body shop, a wrecking yard, an insurance salvage pool, an auction company and a used auto dealership, Susan has seen many changes in the industry.  Susan will talk to us about the State Regulating Organizations and how Nevada's Professional Towing Industry works with DMV, National Towing Association, NDOT, Nevada Highway Patrol and the State Legislature.
Susan says - "solving customers' problems, beyond their highest expectations, will constantly raise our Tow Bar!"

In honor of Presidents' Day February 17th, club member Loren Acton will deliver an oration by Abraham Lincoln giving some of his best speeches and humor.
Presidents' Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February.  Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, the holiday became popularly known as Presidents' Day after is was moved as part of 1971's Uniform Monday Holiday Act.  While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Lincoln and other figures, Presidents' Day is now poplularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. Presidents, past and present.  Abraham Lincoln's birthday is February 12.
