Kumu Kawailoa

Kumu Kawaiola founded halau kapa hula of Reno in 2012, and has been teaching hula for 10 years in Northern Nevada.  Her mission is to preserve all things Hawaiian.  Kumu spends her life learning, teaching and sharing her cluture through hula and the cultural arts with our Northern Nevada community.  Kumu is a very talented songwriter and describes hula as the dance of nature.  Her compositions can be found on the album "last dance" by award winner Jason Kaleo Phillips.

Kumu Kawaiola and her dancers will demonstrate how Hula is a reflection of our environment, coupled with our innermost feelings, that reside in us all.
