Members of The Rotary Club of Sparks have played a key role in initiating a project to construct an Accessible Playground, also known as an Inclusive Park, at the Sparks Marina.  Accessible playgrounds are constructed in a manner that allow children with disabilities to enjoy the playground equipment and feel comfortable in the environment.  The Rotary Club of Sparks is donating $80,000 towards the cost of the park.

This is the largest project the club has undertaken in the history of the club since it began in 1948.  The total cost of the project is estimated to be $750,000 with the City of Sparks committing to $550,000 of the total cost.  The Rotary Club of Sparks and the City will be looking for donations to cover the remaining costs.  Sparks Rotarians will have a small role in installing the park and will follow up with regularly scheduled cleaning of the park.   The City hopes to have the park completed within this fiscal year.

We will add to this story as the project progresses.
