Rod Jorgensen is the Director of Counseling and Management Consultant for the Nevada Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno.  He will discuss the status of entrepreneurship in Northern Nevada, what is happening, who is involved and how we are as a community further developing entrepreneurial opportunities in the area.
 
 
Rod Jorgensen is the Director of Counseling and Management Consultant for the Nevada Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno.  His primary duties include counseling start-up and expanding business clients on general topics such as marketing, financing availability, management, patents, copyrights, franchises, licensing and regulatory requirements, business structure and business valuation.  He is involved in the oversight of  all counseling activities for the statewide organization, periodic audits of programmatic functions of all offices and data gathering dissemination of counseling and training activities to all stakeholders.
 
Rod is a graduate of Montana State University (B.S. Agricultural Business, 1977) and has completed all core requirements towards a degree in accounting at UNR.  He is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified Economic Development Finance Professional.  He passed the CPA exam in 1994 and was awarded a Financial Services Advocate of the Year award in 2001.
 
Rod is married with three children.  He has been active on the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative Loan committee since 1991 and served on the Washoe Development Enterprise (economic development arm of the Washoe Tribe) as a board member from 1998 to 2003.  Rod also serves on the Community Advisory Board for the Junior League of Reno, Washoe County Business Education Advisory Committee (WCSD) and is a community member for Nevada State Development Corporation.
